'Water Barriers for Homes' prototype designs are needed to help people keep flood waters out of their homes. The design ideally offers customizable features at very affordable cost to allow deployment by people with different home configurations and to allow wide availability. Open source methods for the making of such a prototype also ensure the solution reaches people living in remote regions.

This solution approach serves to mitigate the negative physical effects of flooding in the short term since a "cure" for the wide spread effects of climate change may not be immediately surmountable. This of course does not advocate the stoppage of efforts for progress towards a more sustainable solution in the long run.
