Can you briefly describe your project?
Imagine being able to build an engine that can help to improve your life? Suppose it is possible to build a powerful engine capable of a multitude of applications on your own. Suppose also that you can power this engine with any type of heat source (Sunlight, biofuels etc.) from anywhere. Suppose then that the design of this machine is such that it can be made available cheaply and build using open source methods and that it will be very useful for people living in rural and remote places as it is possible for them to build this engine on their own. Would you then develop and build such a machine?
What do you want to achieve specifically with this project?
We are undertaking to propel learning and development of models of DIY engines that can be constructed using low tech methods and which is powerful enough to accomplish real work. We hope the result of these efforts will help farmers overcome the toil of physical labour through increased mechanization and to promote the energy independence of people in rural areas in relation to reliance on big infrastructure. We envision being the epicentre of this people’s movement to bring about, through shared learning and collaboration, a truly people’s machine that is capable of being locally built and applied for productive means anywhere.
