Wei Yi Laksa
This is a stall which i will go to almost every weekend for as far back as i can remember. Some of the most sumptuous laksa gravy you can find around the island with generous serving of prawns, cockles and chicken strips. Writing this makes me want to go down for a bowl now! Price $2.50 - $5. |

Piao Ji Fish Porridge
My sister brought me all the way to this hawker centre at Amoy street one Saturday afternoon to try this. It had a long queue and cost more than the average fish soup. I thought the soup tasted slightly different from the rest but delicious nevertheless. The ingredients are fresh and there are pieces of fried "goodness" drop into the mix as well. Try it but expect a long queue even on Saturdays in CBD. |

Amirah & Nur Aniqah Mee Soto and Mee Rebus
This is something i will always have when i am around the vicinity. The soup is "shiok" when you add in their chilli. Sinful but cannot be helped! Also ask for the potato (50 cents more) to go along and what you get is a perfect bowl of malay goodness. Yum Yum.. |

Jian Bo Shui Kueh
This is probably the best chwee kuay i have tasted. Amazingly soft and smooth body and superbly tasty ganish makes this the one dish you must try at Tiong Bahru food centre. |

Tong Heng Confectionery
Have you ever tasted egg tarts that literally melts in your mouth?!
If you have not, then you should head down to this outlet at Chinatown. Its uniquely diamond shaped egg tarts is the tastiest i have ever eaten and continues to be so. It cost slightly more though than the average type you find elsewhere but worth every cent of it! |

Leong Wei Roasted Delight
Some delicious "char siew" and roasted duck if you happen to be around the holland area. Popular with the residents there, the stall can be easily spotted with long queues during lunch time. I usually get my fix by going there after 2pm when the crowd has died down. Though by then sometimes the roasted meats will also be sold out! If you want to get some, you have to queue la!. Try the savoury roasted meats and you can also order the different vegetable soups on the side at the same stall. Sedap!! |

Eng Kee Chicken Wings
So good you can eat it on its own. Piping hot and crispy good. Have it when its just out of the frying wok. Top it with the marvellous chilli sauce, and what you get is a heavenly piece of chicken wing. I like to head down there during the evenings, and chomp down two pieces after a hard day's work. Be aware of the long queue of course. Fried chicken never taste so good. |

Katong (Peter) Fried Kway Teow
Located within CBD at Tanjong Pagar market, this is an alternative to where one can go if there is a need to satisfy a sudden sinful craving of char kway teow if your in town area. I went there on a Saturday (my first try) and had the fortune of not having to jostle with the usual office lunch crowd and got myself a steaming plate with extra chilli! Adding lime juice is optional but i recommend it. The overall mouth feel is slightly damp with kway teow soft tender and the combination of hot and sour taste made it sedap! |
